Suminagashi Collage – Untitled
Suminagashi paper, painting and drawing – 2015
This modern piece is part of my collection of suminagashi work. Suminagashi is the ancient Japanese technique of marbling paper decoration, using nothing but water and ink. Suminagashi means “floating ink”.
The suminagashi design was hand made on washi Japanese paper, and then attached as a collage to a 200 gms. Canson paper. Painting is acrylic and the white drawing is white charcoal drawing bar.
Size: 45cm x 65cm (17.7″ x 25.5″)
