Suminagashi and Drawing
Suminagashi paper and drawing – 2015
This minimalist piece is part of my collection of suminagashi work. Suminagashi is the ancient Japanese technique of marbling paper decoration, using nothing but water and ink. Suminagashi means “floating ink”.
The suminagashi design was hand made on washi Japanese paper, and then attached as a collage to an acid-free white cardboard. Black marks made with charcoal and pencil.
You can read about my experience with this technique here.
